Escape game Nuit du Hack 2018

For this last Nuit du Hack we organized an “escape game”, with the challenge of getting out in less than 30 minutes! Many of you have risen to the challenge and we congratulate you.

The record is 3 minutes and 27 seconds! Congratulations to the Fantin team!

The 3 doors were of equivalent difficulty, there were several tricks to find and several ways out. But as they have not all been found, we will not reveal them entirely, indeed we still reserve these surprises for the escape game 2019.

Here are some secrets revealed, just to imagine what was possible to do:

It was picking for low locks, but for the upper ones it was first hacking, you had to make your own tools!

Those who believed that they could achieve this with the iron rods left in evidence on the table were mistaken, because these rods were too thin and therefore too weak to compress the powerful spring of the lock on the first door.

On the other hand, it was possible for that of door number 3 and some succeeded. These rods were on the other hand at the right thickness to overcome the padlock of the second door, its spring was much less powerful.

The best solution was to use the hanger to make a stronger hook, but we had to think about it…

It was also possible to shape a striking gun with the hanger or piano strings, the file was there for that…

The mechanisms were in fact simple fixed trims whose planes scattered among the piles of documents made it possible to get an idea of the shape of the hook to be made.

Another clue made it possible to find even more precise plans, the invisible ink pen in the pen jar had its UV lamp integrated, it was enough to walk its light on the drawing board or the calendar to find precious clues …

As for the key board, it was used more to confuse the participants. Indeed, all the teams serving at the same time and resting the keys anywhere, it was really very laborious to know which ones had been tested. A minimum of method was necessary and one of the keys of door number 1 was to be found, besides the mark of the key was the same as that of the cylinder …

Another was also used for something else but we will not say more…

And of course as every year we welcomed you many at the crocheting stand throughout the evening and night with this year another challenge that was proposed to you.

“The infernal box” to open in less than 8 minutes!

Here too the subtleties are not revealed to leave the surprise during the next challenge.

We wanted to show that the fine opening does not stop at traditional picking (it is often where it begins) but especially that once on the ground it immediately becomes much more complicated because of the position of the lock. Indeed, picking kneeling against a wall a lock on the left side is not easy at all, especially when you have to put the tension to the right …

So train for next year because we will not give you a gift, next time you will stay locked up!
