Introduction to impressionning techniques for December 2, 2016
Friday 02/12/2016 took place a new meeting of the ACF, the evening was already starting very well because a member made nearly 2 hours drive to bring donations to the association!
Undoubtedly a little different from the previous meetings since we had the pleasure of welcoming Alexandre Triffault, this evening was entirely dedicated to impressionning techniques.
For the occasion about thirty people were gathered in our small room of La Ressourcerie. It is also a pleasure to see that women are more and more present, gender diversity is indeed important to us and it is an audience as diverse as curious that participated in this session.
The session began around 7 p.m., with a semblance of a return to school. Our speaker gave us a presentation of impressionning techniques for more than an hour. This practice differs in many ways from the fine opening that is usually practiced and it was a real joy for everyone to discover something new.
Impressionning consists of reconstituting the right key from the cylinder. Think of it as long-term openness. To achieve your goals, you will need a draft of the right profile, the target cylinder obviously, a file, a pliers, good eyes and a little patience when you start!
The presentation was accompanied by a projection of video and animated diagrams, very valuable to understand all the mechanisms of impressionninging techniques. Many questions were also asked and we had a real exchange around this practice.
When everyone felt ready, we were able to move on to the practical part. Alexandre Triffault brought back all the necessary equipment, so everyone was able to sit down and start playing. Assiduity and good humor were, as usual, at the rendezvous!
The transition from theory to practice sometimes proved trickier than expected (especially judging by the greater number of broken keys than openings) but after some 30 minutes, the first cylinder was opened.
Several others followed, greeted with applause each time.
Around 10:30 p.m. the room began to empty and around 11 p.m. the group found other followers: some continued the impression and others moved on to other games (including bumping, which we will talk about soon).
This meeting is undoubtedly one of the most successful so far! Members and visitors gave us a lot of positive feedback and judging by the number of questions that were asked, everyone was keenly interested in the subject.
On the side of the association, the balance is just as positive. After almost 8 months of meetings we are pleased to note that a real core of faithful has been formed. We also registered 4 new accessions. And let’s not forget to point out that members of the Ressourcerie are more and more often passing through the door to join us.
